Feature Stories

Alabama women's basketball 2023-24.

On February 6, 2024, Alabama women's basketball coach Kristy Curry won her 500th career game. I went into depth about her time at Texas Tech, Alabama and Purdue, taking the Boilermakers to a national title game appearance in 2000-01. I pointed out how Curry has won the second most games out of any coach in UA women's basketball history.

I did a feature story on Aaliyah Nye and how she became Alabama's all-time three pointers made in a season leader. I got to speak with Nye about when she began to play basketball, who inspired her and what her practice routine is like. I spoke with coach Curry and Sarah Ashlee Barker about the impact of Nye on the team.

Game Stories

I covered Alabama's first March Madness game since the 2020-21 season. This was also Alabama's first NCAA tournament round of 32 appearance since the 2020-21 season, and the second under coach Curry.

On March 3, 2024, I covered Alabama winning its 10th conference game for the first time 1997-98. The Crimson Tide was also able to clinch the fourth seed in the SEC tournament, which was also a first under coach Curry.

Trending Stories

In Alabama baseball's first conference series of the season, Gage Miller hit a go-ahead 415-foot home run, which gave the Crimson Tide its first SEC series win of the season against Tennessee. I got to talk to Miller postgame about what he saw on the pitch that led to the home run.

During the AHSAA Super-7 state championships, I got to ask three-star Alabama commit Isaia Faga about why he was excited to play for the Crimson Tide shortly after his Central-Phenix City Red Devils won the state title at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama women's basketball starter Jessica Timmons was ruled out for the NCAA tournament after injuring her knee in the SEC tournament against Tennessee. Alabama would defeat Florida State in the first round without Timmons but her presence was missed against Texas in the second round.

After getting injured in the series against Georgia, Alabama pitcher Hagan Banks was ruled out for the season due to an arm injury that would require surgery. Banks became the second pitcher to get season-ending surgery this season, joining Riley Quick who got Tommy John surgery in February.
